One of the best decisions I made when embarking on my career as a digital forensic examiner was becoming a member of the Digital & Multimedia Sciences Section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Through this group, I was able to connect with other researchers, practitioners, and leading digital forensic experts who generously offered guidance throughout my first few years in the field. It's clear that the individuals in this section care about fostering research and recognizing contributions to the discipline, as well as encouraging new and experienced examiners alike to become more actively involved in the digital forensic community through opportunities to perform research or present alongside other knowledgeable examiners. I absolutely recommend that anyone interested in digital forensics apply for membership, as it is a great way to share information and experiences, make some friends, and grow as a professional!
