Preparing for AAFS 2024
The upcoming AAFS Annual Scientific Conference is taking place in Baltimore, MD, February 17–22, 2025. As we prepare for this event, we are now seeking prospective presenters to contribute their expertise and research.
Conference Theme: Technology: A Tool for Transformation or Tyranny?
Our section aims to embrace this theme by highlighting presentations that emphasize the dual nature of technology in forensic science. We are particularly interested in submissions that explore how digital and multimedia technologies are transforming forensic practices while also addressing potential ethical concerns and challenges.
We are pleased to announce our collaboration with the Psychiatry & Behavioral Science section to develop a joint session exploring the intersection of technology, forensic science, and human behavior.
Submission Types:
- Workshops (full day preferred)
- Oral presentations
- Poster presentations

Submission Deadline: August 1, 2024 (This is a firm deadline.)
Awards and Benefits:
- Students are eligible for a travel award
- Up to two non-members are eligible for a waived registration fee
- Please self-identify for any awards when submitting your abstract
Workshop Proposal Requirements: In addition to an abstract, workshop proposals must include:
- CV for all speakers
- Contact information for all speakers
- Full- or Half-Day designation
- Workshop schedule with time designations per speaker
- Speaker disclosures
- Expected audience size
- Estimated number of pages for handouts
Volunteer Opportunities: We are seeking volunteers to serve as session moderators. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of the conference and fulfill service requirements for Academy membership and promotion. Reviewers, moderators, and volunteers play a pivotal role in the success of the annual conference. These activities count as service to the Academy for membership and promotion requirements.
