Jurisprudence Section Call for Moderators for AAFS Baltimore 2025
We are looking for volunteers to moderate our sessions for the upcoming AAFS conference in Baltimore, MD, on Thursday, February 20, and Friday, February 21, 2025. The theme, "Technology: A Tool for Transformation or Tyranny?" invites attendees to examine the multifaceted effects of technological advancements in forensic science. This year's proposals promise to be both educational and inspiring, featuring a range of presentations that cover significant legal issues, the latest developments and present legal issues in DNA technology, and new research in firearms and toolmark impressions.
The Jurisprudence section will host several notable presentations by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), focusing on pressing topics and challenges within several subfields. Additionally, attendees can expect in-depth discussions surrounding digital technology and artificial intelligence's role in forensic science.
Given the overwhelming response and the impressive number of submissions, a second stage of presentations will take place on Friday morning, providing even more opportunities for learning and engagement.
This increase in programming has created a greater need for volunteer moderators to help facilitate the sessions. Those interested in contributing their time to support the Jurisprudence section are encouraged to reach out and get involved. If you are interested in participating, please send an email to Colin Bellair at Colin.Bellair@traviscountytx.gov or Mary Dayton at mary@daytonlawforensics.com as soon as possible. Please let us know if you prefer to moderate Thursday or Friday, morning or afternoon. Thank you!
