Responsibilities

The Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office, located immediately north of Dallas County, Texas is seeking a County (Chief) Medical Examiner. With a population of 1.2 million Collin County is one of the fastest growing communities in the United States, ranking at or near the top in surveys for quality of life, educational attainment, per capita income and wellness in the state of Texas. 

The office has full accreditation by NAME, two pathologists, two administrative staff, two well-experienced autopsy technicians, seven ABMDI registered forensic investigators and access to forensic odontology, forensic anthropology and neuropathology experts. Further, the office will be moving into an approximately 20,000 square foot new facility in 2025. Planning with an architectural firm has already begun. Significant input on the final design of the facility from the successful candidate is expected. 

This is a great career opportunity to lead an office and give physician design input for a new state of the art facility with a manageable case load in a suburban office. JOB DUTIES Responsibilities include administrative duties, postmortem examinations, court testimony, issuing cremation permits and daily review of cases reported. Leadership is expected.

Qualifications

MD or DO degree with board certification in anatomic and forensic pathology, medical licensure in the state of Texas or ability to obtain such. Previous experience in a forensic center work environment.

Compensation

Salary is negotiable. Annual increases in salary, the amount depending on the results of an end of year evaluation by the county administrator. Benefits are excellent.
