Toxicology Call for Abstracts, Workshops, Volunteers, and Award Nominations

Source: Erin Karschner, PhD, Section Program Chair

The Toxicology Section leadership of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) would like to encourage members to submit relevant abstracts and/or workshop proposals for presentation at the 77th Annual AAFS conference to be held in Baltimore, MD. The theme of the meeting, chosen by AAFS President Christopher Thompson, is Technology: A Tool for Transformation or Tyranny?

Please contact Toxicology Section Program Chair Erin Karschner (erin.l.karschner.civ@health.mil) or Co-Chair Svante Vikingsson (svikingsson@rti.org) with questions about workshops or scientific session submissions. More information regarding abstract submission may be found at https://accounts.aafs.org/Meetings/Abstract-Submission-Instructions.aspx.
When submitting an abstract, please designate whether it is to be considered for one of the Special Sessions, such as Drugs and Driving and the Pathology/Biology joint session, in the "Additional Comments" box on the abstract submission form. The AAFS 2025 Drugs and Driving Special Session will be coordinated by Aya Chan-Hosokawa (ayako.chan-hosokawa@nmslabs.com) and Kayla Neuman (kayla.neuman@slh.wisc.edu).
The abstract deadline is August 1!

If you are interested in volunteering to serve as a session moderator, please reach out to Erin (erin.l.karschner.civ@health.mil). Not only do moderators play a pivotal role in the success of the annual conference, but this activity counts toward service to the Academy for Members looking to promote to Fellow within the AAFS Toxicology Section.

Nominations and all accompanying supporting information for the Toxicology Section's Awards and Scholarships are also due on August 1, 2024. Information on the four awards (Alexander O. Gettler, Rolla N. Harger, Ray Abernethy, and Irving Sunshine) and June K. Jones Scholarship can be found within Section 7.1.4.11. of the Policy and Procedure Manual entitled, "Toxicology Section Awards and Scholarship Policies & Procedures."  Please contact our Awards and Scholarship Committee Chair Jennifer Colby (jennifermcolby@outlook.com) with any questions or to submit your nomination.

We look forward to seeing you in Baltimore!
