I am delighted to announce that the Journal of Forensic Sciences (JFS) has appointed a new Associate Editor (AE), Jayakumar Jayaraman, BDS, MDS, MS, PhD.

Dr. Jayakumar Jayaraman is an Associate Professor for the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, VA, and will be assuming the JFS AE role for Odontology on September 1, 2024. Dr. Jayaraman is a Member of the JFS Editorial Board and is well qualified to act as the Odontology AE. We are delighted that he has agreed to join the JFS Leadership Team and look forward to his future contributions. He will assume the AE responsibilities currently held by Dr. Iain Pretty, who will step down from his JFS AE role for Odontology on August 31, 2024.

Jayakumar Jayaraman

My thanks and gratitude are extended to Dr. Pretty, who has been a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the JFS leadership team in his JFS AE role and was a tremendous help in making the new JFS structure the successful model it is today. He also performed the JFS AE duties for Odontology manuscript submissions with professionalism and integrity. Dr. Pretty will continue to serve as a JFS Editorial Board Member.

AEs were incorporated into the JFS process in 2017 and have played an integral role in the evolution of JFS. It is their dedication and effort that make JFS one of the leading forensic science journals in the world.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Jayaraman on his new appointment, as well as thanking Dr. Pretty for his vital contributions during his tenure as JFS AE.

Thank you for your continued support of JFS and its initiatives. For questions, please contact JFS Managing Editor Brenda Peat at bpeat@aafs.org.
