Forensic Scientist II - Forensic Biology/DNA

The Columbus Police Crime Laboratory is accepting resumes for the position of Forensic Scientist II. This advertisement is directed toward trained/experienced forensic scientists with preference given to those scientists possessing a master’s degree or higher. Responsibilities include performing complex examination and analyses of evidence; preparing written reports of findings; performing quality assurance; and presenting oral testimony in court in Forensic Biology/DNA.

Possession of a bachelor's degree with significant coursework (21 semester or 32 quarter hours) in forensic science, chemistry, biology, or closely related physical or natural science and three (3) years of forensic laboratory experience. A master’s degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology or closely related physical or natural science may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. A doctorate's degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology or closely related physical or natural science may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. Additionally, individuals applying for the Forensic Biology position must have successfully completed coursework in biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and have training in statistics or population genetics.

The salary range for this position is $44,554 – $72,696 plus benefits. The salary hiring point will be based on education, certification, and experience.
